Housing Refurbishment

Gosford Heights Beccles

This innovative housing scheme was the brainchild of Wellington Construction Ltd who had the vision to preserve a piece of the town’s heritage on an existing brownfield site with a 5 storey Grain Silo in the heart of the town.

Owned by Flagship Housing Group, on behalf of Suffolk Heritage Housing Association, the development has been built in conjunction with eight traditional homes for affordable rent situated on Gosford Road. These new homes helped address the shortage of affordable housing for local residents in this part of Suffolk.

Gosford Heights is a five storey building and comprises a mix of two two-bedroom wheelchair flats, four one-bedroom flats and 16 two-bedroom flats, all for shared ownership. Despite the Credit Crunch over 70% of the flats have already been reserved.

The £3 million development received a contribution of £770,000 in grant funding from the Homes and Communities Agency and has been possible due to a close partnership between Waveney District Council and Beccles Town Council.
