Martineau Road is a development of 6 flats for Circle Anglia Housing Association. Oxbury & Company were appointed as Project Managers and Employers Agents from its inception through to completion in May 2011. The Project Manager for Oxbury & Company was Carla Potter.
Architects Chaplin and Farrant produced a bold, simple design to maximise the use of a difficult wedge shaped site on the inner ring road. The scheme comprises three staggered, connected blocks under an angled monopitch roof. Careful consideration had to be given to the problem of noise from the road and railway line on either side on the site. The planners wanted an iconic building on the way in to Norwich and we think that has certainly been achieved.
Interestingly there are more bricks in the wall around the site than there are in the building!
In October 2011 the development was awarded a commendation at the Norwich Society Design Awards.
